Improved Fuel Economy and Big Price Hikes: 2025 Toyota 4Runner Numbers Are In

With more power and better fuel economy comes big price increases. Sure, a base two-wheel drive 2025 Toyota 4Runner will cost you about the same as it did this year, but any other model is going to cost you a lot more.

With those increased costs comes a ton more power and a considerable improvement in fuel economy. It also comes with a lot more standard features in a thoroughly modern SUV.

The 2025 4Runner starts hitting your local North American Toyota dealer in early 2025 — so very soon.

The least you’ll pay for a 4×4 2025 4Runner is $44,265 for a base SR5 model. This also means upgrading from two-wheel-drive will cost you $2,000, as the starting price for a 2×4 2025 4Runner is $42,220.

If you want a top-spec off-road machine, be ready to shell out some serious coin, with Trailhunter and TRD Pro models starting at $68,395. But, remember that these models are loaded with features already, so they won’t need to be optioned as much to get the vehicle you’ll want.

Pricing starts at $57,900 ($56,450 + $1,450 DPH) for the 1958, with the Land Cruiser Land Cruiser model starting at $63,900 ($62,450 + $1,450 DPH).

2025 Toyota 4Runner Fuel Economy

While all 2025 4Runners get a 2.4L four-cylinder turbocharged engine backed by an eight-speed transmission, there are two powertrain options. The i-FORCE is the base, with 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The i-FORCE MAX adds a mild-hybrid system to bump power to 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque.

With a 4×4 drivetrain, the best fuel economy you’ll see in a 2025 Toyota 4Runner is a 23 combined EPA rating. A bit surprisingly, that comes with the most off-road focused and feature-rich trims available; Off-Road, Off-Road Premium, Limited, Trailhunter, Platinum, and TRD Pro. Of course, this is because of the mild-hybrid i-FORCE MAX powertrain on offer in these models.

But, note the worst combined fuel economy number of any 2025 4Runner is 21 mpg, which comes on 4×4 i-FORCE-powered models.

For reference, the 2024 Toyota 4Runner has a 4.0L V6, putting out up to 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, and is backed by a five-speed transmission. The best a 2024 4Runner can muster is a 17 mpg combined EPA rating.
