The Nikon Prostaff P7 binoculars are top-rated for their excellent value in overall optics, especially in lower light. We present two choices here (though there are more) for nature watchers and birders: 8×42 and 10×42. Both maintain a bright view thanks to the larger objective lenses (42).
The choice is between magnification power. An 8-power magnification is popular for birding because of the wide field of view, which helps you go from seeing something with the naked eye to finding it in your binoculars.
