‘Hottest Pellet Grill’ Reaches 1,250 Degrees: reqtec Launches X-Fire Pro

Summer cooking is about to get hotter if this pellet grill has its way. Recteq launched a new pellet grill with an unprecedented temperature range of 225 degrees to 1,250 degrees.
The X-Fire Pro is a dual-mode pellet grill that can replicate the hot-and-fast grilling experience of cooking over a flame with an open lid. If there’s such a thing as a “quiver-killer” in the world of outdoor cooking, this may be it.
Designed to cook like a gas grill, the reqtec X-Fire Pro lets you adjust the direct flame using its Adaptive Sear Control. The lower flame resembles a classic grilling experience. When cranked all the way up, it should put an instant crust on just about anything — and fast.
Hitting those high temps doesn’t come at the expense of its slow-cooking traits. As a wood pellet smoker, the brand’s Smart Grill Technology has a PID control to maintain consistent temperatures. The X-Fire Pro also connects to Wi-Fi to monitor and manage cooking via the recteq app.

Ralph Santana, CEO of reqtec, touts the X-Fire Pro as a replacement for gas grills.
“This is a totally new grill concept for recteq and the pellet grill category as a whole,” he said in the debut announcement. “Our research indicated that while the majority of gas grillers enjoy their current grilling experience, they wish they could also cook low and slow.”
Backyard cooks may own one grill for cooking steaks, burgers, and veggies over a direct flame and another for smoking or slow cooking thicker cuts like briskets or pork butts, often with indirect heat. The X-Fire Pro lets you do both.
Part of the appeal of gas grilling is the flame control. The X-Fire Pro has low, medium, and high temperature settings in Grill Mode. The wood pellet fuel alleviates the hassle of refilling propane tanks, or worse, emptying one faster than expected.
The high-heat searing option may convince you to reach for a tomahawk ribeye, and there’s also an add-on rotisserie spit rod ($250). Take out the grill’s cast iron grates and pop in the rod to spin a bird (or other meat) over the open flames.
Price, Build
The grill has an 825-square-inch cooking surface, which is roughly the size of 26 hamburgers. It has a 304 stainless steel heat deflector lid and cast iron grill grates. A 20-pound hopper holds enough pellets for approximately 20 hours of nonstop cooking, and it also comes with two meat probes.
A control panel to the side lets you adjust the temperatures and monitor the readings from the two included meat probes. A 6-year warranty covers all of the above.
The X-Fire Pro retails for $1,550 and is available at recteq.com and Amazon.
