NYC Mom Hit by Stray Bullet Has Interesting Take

New York is very proud of its gun control. They got slapped down during the Bruen decision, and they knew they’d be slapped down, so they passed the first “carry killer” bill in the nation, one intended to make it such a pain to carry a firearm lawfully that many would just not do it.

They argued this was necessary to keep people safe.

However, a mom from the Bronx was recently hit by a stray bullet, and she’s had enough. What she says is downright fascinating.

A Bronx mom who was struck by stray bullets near Fordham University was walking to the store to buy school lunches for her kids at the time — and says she’s now about had it with life in the Big Apple.

Starli Sanchez, a 34-year-old city worker, said she remains traumatized after being hobbled by the slugs that hit her leg Sunday evening in a brazen shooting that also left a 57-year-old man dead on a Fordham Heights sidewalk.

“We just have to get out of the city, actually, because it’s getting very violent,” said Sanchez, who is married with a 10-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son, to The Post on Tuesday.

“It’s getting very bad every year because there are too many people with guns in the city,” she said.

“There are too many kids with guns in the city. They have to take care of the situation. The situation is getting out of hand with people having illegal guns everywhere in the city.”

Now, Sanchez is wrong about the issue being too many guns in the city. Guns are not the problem. They never were and never will be. Guns can’t do anything on their own. That’s where people come in, and people are the problem.

That said, I find it interesting that there are “too many kids with guns in the city” when New York has such restrictive gun control laws on the books. I mean, you can’t just go into a gun store and buy a gun there. For a pistol, you need a permit to buy and own such a firearm, and pistols are what criminals tend to prefer.

They’ve also got universal background checks, which are supposed to prevent people from skirting around gun stores and the mandatory background check requirements imposed by the federal government.

So, despite all of this and the plethora of other gun control laws laid down by the state and how New York City has run with them, there’s still a problem with guns? How can this be?

I mean, it sounds like gun control doesn’t work. That can’t be, though, because some of the media’s favorite “experts” have told me repeatedly that it does. They’ve even manufactured, I mean, they even have studies that are totally trustworthy and not at all cherry-picked or structured in such a way as to give them specific data showing gun control works. Again, how can this be?

It’s a head scratcher, I suppose.

Whatever it is, it can’t be that gun control is exactly what we’ve said it was, that it never works, and that certain people want to lie to give the impression that it does.

Nah. That must be crazy talk.
