‘Last Haul’: Mystery Ranch Discounts Long-Running Gear That Will Be Sunsetted for Good

There’s an undeniable premium to owning a solid piece of gear that’s no longer in production. And right now, you can snag outgoing designs at a discount from one of the best-regarded pack makers in the business.

To wit: Mystery Ranch is offering up a final sale for the ever-expanding deals surrounding Black Friday. The Montana-based outfitter will sell you heavily discounted packs as part of its “Last Haul” promotion.

Starting Tuesday, Dec. 2, Mystery Ranch will take 25% off a collection of styles in its Outdoor, Everyday, and Travel categories. The discounted products are being retired this year and won’t return in 2026, according to a Monday announcement. Many of these designs have been around for years. That’s no surprise, given that Mystery Ranch was founded 25 years ago by a designer who already had decades of pack-making experience.

But Yeti purchased the company in spring 2024. Some industry observers worried that Yeti may phase out Mystery Ranch’s packs, or reduce its pack offerings. In other words, snatching some of the brand’s best designs at a discount would be reason enough.

But as a representative for Mystery Ranch put it, “This is the last chance to purchase some of Mystery Ranch’s longest-running silhouettes before they are sunsetted to make room for the next generation of designs.”

Mystery Ranch 2-Day Assault Pack

GearJunkie’s top pick for tactical backpacks is currently on sale for 25% off. That’s right, one of the outgoing Mystery Ranch designs is the 2-Day Assault Pack, which earned our best ranking in the Best Tactical Backpacks of 2025 guide.

“We are certain that this 27L pack is the most versatile tactical pack on the market today,” GJ Contributor Nick LeFort wrote. “Thanks to its lightweight profile, compact size, ease of access, and ample opportunities for external storage, the 2 DAP is the perfect choice for a weekend of camping when you don’t want to lug around a full-size backpacking pack.”

“With such a broad array of features, this pack can easily serve as a bona fide quiver of one,” LeFort continued. “Whether you’re about to set off on a few months of international travel or simply need an everyday pack that’ll hold up for years, you can’t go wrong with this beauty.”

LeFort’s only downside for the bag? It’s not fully waterproof. Other than that, the bag’s discounted price makes it an attractive option for anyone looking for a reliable pack, either for themselves or a tactically minded person in their life.

Mystery Ranch Radix 57

This pack has only been available to purchase since 2024, but it’s already being phased out. It received a highly positive GearJunkie review in 2023, when GJ Contributor Cameron Martindell praised the pack’s weight and features.

One of his only caveats about the pack was its high price tag, making it even more attractive under the current discount.

“The Mystery Ranch Radix Backpack is a lightweight, comfortable, and hauling-savvy backpack to support multinight, long-distance backpacking adventures,” Martindell wrote. “It’s on the pricier end of the spectrum — but not by much. It’s extremely customizable to suit a wide range of use scenarios and comes with a men’s- or women’s-specific harness fit.”

The pack is discounted in both men’s and women’s versions.

Mystery Ranch Gallagator 25

On the smaller side of the bag spectrum, we also have one of the cooler product names in the Mystery Ranch repertoire: the Gallagator 25. This lightweight pack offers a combination of a classic tri-zip design with a running vest-inspired suspension. According to a positive review from GJ Contributor Ian Graber-Stiehl, “Mystery Ranch’s Gallagator 25 quickly became my favorite daypack for a wide swath of adventures.”

“Mystery Ranch’s front-man daypack series for spring 2024 is emblematic of its steady expansion into lighter-weight offerings to round out the brand’s heavy-duty heritage,” Graber-Stiehl wrote. “With fantastic gear accessibility and a vest-style harness that offers a snug carry even sans hip belt, the Gallagator lineup makes an excellent budget alternative to some of Mystery Ranch’s other daypacks that it proved worthy of our list of the best hiking day packs.“

With the current discount, the pack’s price tag dips below $100 for a highly giftable $97.

And since these designs will likely never return, you’ll have something that will hopefully serve you well for years to come — without worrying about what Mystery Ranch (and parent company Yeti) decided to do next.
