On Gun Rights, Never. Back. Down.

The world is a dangerous place. It always has been and always will be.

In my life, living a fairly comfortable life, I’ve had brushes with natural disasters like floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes. I’ve seen house fires just a few doors away and had my share of car accidents and then some.

Any of these could have been just a little bit worse and claimed my life and the lives of my family.

Then we have gunshots in the middle of the night, of which I’ve experienced more than my fair share, and then we get the black swan type events, such as 9/11 here or October 7th in Israel. Or what happened on Sunday at Bondi Beach.

After many tragedies, we’re told we need to give up our guns. People say we need to give them up for the safety of the general public. Sure, we didn’t do anything wrong, but someone did, and therefore none of us should have our Second Amendment rights anymore. Not as they currently stand, anyway.

Don’t worry, someone will tell us. If you have a threat from a dangerous person, you can just call the police. They’ll have your back.

Yet we should never give up our right to keep and bear arms. We shouldn’t budge an inch.

Why? Because everything they’re peddling is a lie.

Almost 30 years later, we witnessed the latest Islamic terrorist attack targeting Jews for the crime of being Jews. An apparent father-son duo besieged a Hanukkah celebration in Bondi Beach, Australia, and proceeded to slaughter innocent civilians with their, apparently legally-owned, bolt-action rifles and shotguns. And the response of the Australian government should fill every Jew in Australia with dread.

“The government is prepared to take whatever action is necessary,” Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced. “Included in that is the need for tougher gun laws.”

Right, because the solution to any failure of legislation is more legislation, no matter the consequences.

Let’s not miss a key detail here. While hundreds of Jews were disarmed and helpless thanks to Australia’s gun laws, what were several Australian police officers busy doing? According to some eye-witness reports, they were hiding or even fleeing the scene, abandoning those they swore to protect to the merciless, bloodthirsty barbarity of Islamic terrorists as they were allowed to fire upon Jews for almost 15 minutes. Indeed, the only act of resistance we’ve seen so far came from an unarmed civilian, Ahmed al-Ahmed.

The truth is that when governments call for gun control, it is always presented as one side of an equation of guaranteed safety. Sure, you’re giving up your weapons, but what do you need them for anyway? Just call the police! They’ll protect you! Except they won’t.

Not only was this attack in Australia another example of the proliferation of anti-Western Islamism, literally the globalization of intifada, but it was also another example of precisely why the Second Amendment exists and why, crucially, it can never be infringed.

Bondi Beach is exactly what “globalize the intifada” means, and the answer to this call for violence is…to make people into easier targets?

Why trust calling the police when reports tell us that at least some officers hid while others ran? That’s not even an Australian thing, since we saw the Uvalde Police SWAT team sit outside while children were being gunned down inside a school.

We’re still supposed to trust the police to protect us? To protect everyone?

Even the most well-intentioned officer, the absolute Chad cop who takes “protect and serve” as the epitome of his purpose, can’t protect everyone. He simply can’t be everywhere at every moment. Far too many officers aren’t willing to even try to live by that. Most try to some degree or another, but it only takes a few to still be “far too many” in my book.

Yet we’re supposed to give up our gun rights because someone broke the law over and over again? Australia did and now they’re facing still more restrictions. Some are freaking out because someone owned six firearms. Six.

That’s a small collection here in the US, and I’m damn proud of that fact.

The truth is that there’s no guarantee of safety. The government couldn’t stop Hurricane Michael from wrecking my neighborhood, and they couldn’t stop the thug who decided to pop shots off at a rival in the middle of the night earlier this year. They can’t stop terrorism or other forms of violent extremism.

They can’t do any of that, but they expect you to give up your guns on the promise that they can.

Never give them up.

When the fights brew, remember that these are your rights. Never back down. Never give an inch, because it will never be the last. It’s not a compromise. It’s a loss, and they’ll be back for more.

The world is a dangerous place. It’s up to us, as individuals, to make sure we’re as safe as possible. Don’t let them convince you they can do it for you.
