Understanding Michelle Obama’s Gun Hypocrisy

I have no issue with the Secret Service guarding presidents, so long as they try something different and do a good job of it. I have no issue with them guarding the First Ladies, either. A man is vulnerable when something happens to his wife and family, so protecting them is good for national security.

I get a smidge annoyed at a lifetime of taxpayer-funded security for the rest of their lives—the president and first lady, anyway—but I suppose I understand that, too.

But former First Lady Michelle Obama is catching heat following a resurfaced clip of her referencing her bodyguard.

Michelle Obama admitted that her post-White House life still includes an immense security presence, RadarOnline.com has learned.

While speaking with Amy Poehler on her Good Hang podcast during a resurfaced interview from May 2025, the former first lady, 62, revealed she doesn’t use Apple Pay – meaning she needs to keep some cash or cards on her – but she isn’t worried, since she has an armed security guard with her at all times.

Michelle Obama’s Guard Carries a Gun

In the clip, which has resurfaced on X, Obama admitted she has “old cash” that has remained “untouched” for a decade.

“Maybe I shouldn’t have said that to the world,” she added. “But I guess I’m good because I also have this security guy with a gun.”

But critics slammed the ex-first lady online for the remarks as they suggested that keeping guns around her was a hypocritical move for the liberal political figure.

“Two-faced. Guns for me not for thee. What an embarrassment as a former FLOTUS,” one individual seethed on X, and another added, “The anti-gun matriarch having a whole team of armed men protecting her is the epitome of hypocrisy. Delusional.”

A third added, “Oh so guns are good now? lol democrats are such f–king hypocrite cucks.”

Now, in fairness, as a former first lady, I’m not sure she gets any kind of say in the matter, but that’s neither here nor there. She’s obviously fine with that “security guy with a gun.”

And yes, people are blasting her for hypocrisy.

What you have to understand, though, is that to people like her, it’s not hypocrisy.

See, you don’t need a gun because, unlike her, you’re unimportant. You, your family, your community, they simply don’t matter. Michelle Obama, though? She matters. She and her husband still have important things to do, and they need to be kept safe and sound while they pen agreements for Netflix programs about NBA players and stuff.

This is the same mentality as the climate crusaders who board private jets to Europe to discuss how you shouldn’t be allowed to continue driving the 2002 Toyota Tundra that was all you could afford because of greenhouse emissions. They have important things to do and can’t be bothered with waiting in line or dealing with TSA, but you can wait for the (electric) bus.

Simply put, people like Michelle Obama can afford to outsource their security, which means they’re important enough to warrant it. You and me? Nah.

Never mind that 99.999 percent of all murder victims aren’t famous or powerful people. A similar percentage of all rape or robbery victims are the same. We’re actually more likely to be the victims of some violent crime, but because we don’t matter to those who consider themselves the elite, then we don’t matter at all.

Once you understand that, you see why people like Michelle Obama are perfectly comfortable with armed security for themselves and their friends, but you shouldn’t have more than a handful of rounds for any gun they graciously allow you to have…just so long as you jump through so many hoops that it becomes your full-time job.
