New Chassis, More Power, Loads of Standard Tech: Introducing the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan

Volkswagen’s bestselling nameplate ushers in a new generation for 2025. Introducing the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan.

While other global markets got the latest MQB evo platform-based Tiguan last year, the North American market is getting it for the 2025 model year. This two-row SUV has new looks, more power, and less weight. All of these updates should help bolster sales of VW’s bestselling vehicle.

2025 VW Tiguan

While on an all-new chassis, the 2025 Tiguan carries over its drivetrain. The 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine gets a bump in power though, up 17 horsepower, now at 201.

The 2025 Tiguan will be about 170 pounds lighter than the 2024 model. This should help with acceleration and fuel economy, but no word on numbers just yet.

Because of the all-new chassis, the Tiguan now has a slightly longer wheelbase, shorter rear overhang, and a lot of new sheet metal. While base models come with a new 17-inch wheel, volume trims get 19-inch wheels, and top trims get 20-inch wheels.

This new wheel lineup helps dial in the new, bolder design language, along with three new color options: Avocado Green Pearl, Sandstone Uni, and Monterey Blue Pearl.

Inside the new Tiguan are revised materials and a relocated gear selector, moved from the console to the steering column. Interior materials options include genuine American walnut wood, a wrapped and double-stitched center console, upgraded Savona leather, and cloth seats with an embossed design.

New Tech

As with all modern vehicles, the first thing to get upgraded on a new model is the screens. The 2025 Tiguan gets a standard 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro system and a new 12.9-inch central infotainment system. A 15-inch infotainment screen and heads-up display (HUD) are available.

A center console rotary dial controls volume, Drive Mode Select, and new, optional “Atmospheres.” This new feature combines synchronized ambient lighting and audio settings to create up to five preset moods in the vehicle.

Wireless charging and App-Connect come standard on all 2025 Tiguans, as do Climatronic Touch automatic climate control and front seat Climatronic.

Also standard across all trims is IQ.DRIVE Level 2 driver assistance. This includes the following:

  • Travel Assist (level 2 semi-automated driving assistance)
  • Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring)
  • Active Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Stop and Go
  • Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System)
  • Emergency Assist (semi-automated vehicle assistance in a medical emergency)
  • Light Assist
  • Park Distance Control
  • Exit Warning
  • Park Assist Plus is also available

VW also upgraded safety with four new airbags (for a total of 10): driver knee, center, and rear side airbags.

2025 VW Tiguan options include up to 30-color ambient lighting, a 12-speaker HK sound system, a power tailgate, quilted leather 12-way power front seats with massage and ventilation, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and three-zone climate control.

There is no word yet on the availability or pricing of the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan. But, yes, there will be an R-Line model.
