California Teen Arrested In Possession of ‘Ghost Gun’? Unpossible!!!

As noted this morning, Minnesota now has a bill that would ban so-called ghost guns. The sponsor of that bill needed a bit of a history lesson, of course, but the bill itself is idiotic even without the ignorant comments.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is a supporter of the bill, and he’s as anti-gun as they come, to say the least. He likes to argue that “ghost guns” are a problem and that a law is needed to address them.

Obviously, I disagree. As I noted in that piece, a study that tried to suggest a link between those guns and suicides admitted that there was no link between those weapons and homicides, meaning that bad guys are killing just as many people without them as they are with them. The criminals don’t need privately made firearms to do bad things.

Then there’s the fact that no matter what laws you put on the books, the criminals can and will break them.

California, for example, has had strict controls on so-called ghost guns for years. Didn’t stop this from happening.

A minor was arrested for being in possession of a gun, the Fairfield Police Department said.

FPD said officers recently contacted a minor who had a loaded gun and a large-capacity magazine.

They were arrested for multiple violations, including carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of a large-capacity magazine, minor in possession of a firearm and minor in possession of ammunition.

So we’ve got a minor, who cannot lawfully buy any kind of gun, in possession of not just a privately made firearm despite the law, but also a higher-capacity magazine that is also banned in California, and in possession of ammunition, all despite the laws requiring background checks for ammo.

All of the things the laws were supposed to prevent failed to prevent anything at all.

If a kid can get all of this, someone with a lifetime of criminal activity shouldn’t have any problem doing so as well, right? Why, it’s almost like the law didn’t do a damn thing except to criminalize a lot of law-abiding people’s hobby of making their own guns. Strange, isn’t it?

Of course, I doubt any of you reading this are surprised. We told them this would happen. We told them the laws wouldn’t stop anyone who intended to do something illegal. All it would do is stop the law-abiding folks who were never an issue in the first place.

They didn’t listen.

Worse, they told us we didn’t know what we were talking about. They claimed we just wanted to see bodies stacked in the streets, to see the gutters stained with blood, all while the oh-so-enlightened tried to make our society better by removing those nasty guns.

They demonized us, berated us, and mocked us, but we were right.

Will this change anything? Will us being right make them reconsider? Nope. It’s not going to happen, in part because too few of them will ever see how wrong they actually are. The media won’t show it to them. This is a local report, but there are thousands of similar cases where criminals keep getting them, even if states have the laws on the books, and no one can tell us just when these laws are going to magically start working.

Which is fair because they won’t.

But they’ll never see how wrong they are.
