Canadian Gun Grabbers Miffed Government Not Going Far Enough

Information is power. The more information you have, the more you can act in whatever way best benefits you. It’s why we have laws against using insider information to make money in the stock market…unless you’re a member of Congress, anyway.

When it comes to guns, we often think of this connection with regard to things like gun registration. You can’t take what you don’t know exists, and registration doesn’t really do anything else except tell you where to go to take guns away. It doesn’t link crimes with the person who owned the murder weapon in the vast majority of cases.

But it seems that in Canada, they’re looking at getting more information, and gun control groups are upset that the government isn’t gathering more, apparently.

Now, I don’t see how any of this is useful and it’s not difficult for them to get that information themselves just by looking what what people are offering for sale, but it is what it is.

And yet, gun grabbers of the Great White North seem to think that there should be some kind of scrutiny over the guns being offered to the public. Why?

I mean, there are laws against certain guns being sold. Firearms either meet the law or they don’t. While the laws are absolute BS, they are what they are and people either comply or knowingly break them. Why should anyone have to get government permission before offering a new product for sale to the public so long as it complies with existing laws?

Because if they know everything that comes onto the market and it’s “scrutinized” by the government, they can kill anything new that might provide Canadians too much of whatever it is that anti-gunners there have a problem with. I’d say “too much freedom,” but I’m sure they’d quibble with that description.

You don’t have to ban anything new if you have to get the government’s OK before offering something, and that’s a major problem.

They’re not getting that, though. They’re just getting the rough information, but that sets the stage for what anti-gunners up that way really want. Once people are used to submitting the data, they’re going to be a lot more likely to accept being told they can’t offer something no matter how much they spent trying to bring that firearm to market.

And people wonder why I have no interest in us being more like Canada.
