Defensive Gun Use Leads to Felon’s Arrest on Firearm Charges

Earlier today, I wrote about an instance out of Washington state and how gun control doesn’t work. I noted that I see a ton of cases where felons are arrested with guns, but I can’t write about all of them.
Honestly, it’s hard enough not to keep writing the same stories day after day as it is, especially when the idiotic arguments from the anti-gunners never change, and it would be even worse if I just kept covering armed felons being arrested or other examples of gun control failing. Since it’s not even remotely possible due to the massive numbers, though, it’s not something I lose sleep over.
But then I get one that kind of makes not just that point, but a few others, and there’s no way I’m ignoring that one.
See, this time, the felon arrested for illegal gun possession was the shooting victim.
A 20-year-old man who was shot at a Taco Bell in Winston-Salem last week has been arrested and charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm and felony carrying a concealed gun.
According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, officers responded to the Taco Bell at 349 Akron Avenue shortly after 4:30 p.m. on March 26 and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Police identified the suspect in the shooting and took him into custody the same day.
It seems the suspect worked at the Taco Bell in question and got into an altercation with another employee when the shooting happened. The news story doesn’t say who pulled the trigger specifically–whether it was the other employee or someone else in the restaurant–but does note that the individual won’t be charged as they were acting in self-defense.
So, what we have here is a bad guy with a gun and a good guy with a gun.
The bad guy with a gun was under the legal age to purchase a handgun, had a stolen gun, and was carrying it concealed without a permit. Of course, let’s keep in mind that gun control advocates are very fond of age limits on gun purchases, arguing they keep guns out of the hands of people too immature to use them responsibly, and they favor concealed carry permits over constitutional carry laws because bad guys might carry guns if permits aren’t required.
Well, there goes those arguments.
Then we have the fact that there was a good guy with a gun, something that your average anti-gunner tries to say almost never actually happens. The good guy with the gun shot the (alleged) illegally armed person to protect human life.
Note also that this didn’t result in a loss of life, so many of those using states only looking at defensive gun use fatalities can get bent.
Of course, as I noted in the piece from earlier today, stories like this don’t make the national media. This won’t show up on CNN or even Fox News. OANN won’t cover this one, and neither will MSNBC. Never mind the big three network primetime news programs.
It’s just not sensational enough for the national media.
But it’s illustrative of the reality about guns as it applies to everyday life here in the United States.
