Harmeet Dhillon Goes to Gun Range, 2A Community Shows Its Butt

We want more people shooting. We want more people in key government roles who are truly pro-gun, who take our gun rights as seriously as we do. So, it was with a great deal of joy that I saw that Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon went to the gun range this weekend. As head of the civil rights division, she’s been a key ally in taking on oppressive gun control laws at the state and local level.
I could make the argument that just about everything good we’ve seen out of the Department of Justice is likely because of her, and if she’s taking up shooting itself, then fantastic!
I know she went to the range because she posted about it on X.

While a lot of people were supportive, a lot of others took issue with her marksmanship not being up to their own personal snuff.
For the record, that wasn’t her only target for the day.
Actually yesterday target was 15 yards, my bad.

Now, Dhillon has made no mention of being an experienced shooter. She’s not pretending that she’s an expert shot or anything like that. She’s learning.
However, people criticizing her for not being an expert was troubling, to say the least.
No, it might not be the majority, but it doesn’t take all that many bad apples to paint the rest of us in a negative light.
Back in July, I wrote about misogyny in the Second Amendment community. I got a bit of hate over that, including one guy who clearly didn’t understand things like boundaries, but it also kind of proved my point. Whether this is an example of it or not is irrelevant. It could just be people being an ass to a new shooter for not immediately turning into John Wick, after all. What matters, though, is that Dhillon is an ally who is trying to become an even better one by embracing her gun rights on a more personal level.
And way too many out there took a dump on her for it.
Some are upset that the Department of Justice, where she’s a highly placed official, is being so wishy-washy on gun rights by defending unconstitutional gun laws. That might not be up to Dhillon, but I get the argument, and that’s probably more fair than some of what I’ve seen. Others, though, are just people being jackwagons because the new shooter isn’t as good as they think she should be.
You can skim the comments for yourself if you like, but the truth of the matter is that guys, do better.
For a first-time shooter, that’s fine. Even that 15-yard target is solid for a first range trip. Is there room for improvement? Absolutely, but Dhillon’s other posts on X after this make it clear that she plans on continuing training and learning. She’s making damn sure she’s one of us, and some of y’all are doing what you can to push her away.
Considering her role in the government, do you really think that’s smart?
She’s the one who can direct her entire office to come to the defense of our right to keep and bear arms when your local government tries to make gun permits practically unobtainable. She’s the one who can lower the boom on your state authorities who try to play games with your right to keep and bear arms.
Why are you chuckleheads actually being jerks to someone who has our back through at least most of her actions? Criticize the failures directly, sure, should there be any, but mocking her for not shooting like a Navy SEAL team sniper is about as stupid as it gets.
Do better.
Editor’s Note: President Trump and Republicans across the country are doing everything they can to protect our Second Amendment rights and right to self-defense.
