Herrera Wants a Rematch Against Tony Gonzalez

You already read the title, so there’s not really any reason to beat around the bush on this one. Guntuber, podcaster, and “serial entrepreneur” Brandon Herrera has decided that Rep. Tony Gonzales really needs to go.

He also took to his own Pepperbox platform and YouTube to lay out all of the reasons why he’s running once again.

Honestly, he’s not wrong.

I’m not going to get into any of the other issues because those are beyond the scope of what we cover here at Bearing Arms. I have other venues to talk about those, after all, including at our sister site Townhall, and I probably will be talking about those in the coming days.

But when it comes to guns and gun rights, Gonzales isn’t exactly a Republican you can count on.

Our gun rights matter, and while there are pro-gun Democrats, there really aren’t any in Congress. That means we have to count on Republicans to, at a minimum, hold the line. When they don’t, it’s up to us, the voters, to hold them accountable. We need to remove them from Congress, but we also need to rally behind those who run against them, even in districts other than our own.

Yeah, I can campaign against my own representative, Sanford Bishop, but in this district, he’s not going anywhere, so while I can work to change that, I can also rally behind people like Herrera.

And we need to.

As Herrera says in the video, the near loss in the primary–about 400 votes–wasn’t enough to scare Gonzales straight. He’s back in Washington doing the same stuff he was doing all along. That means he learned nothing from this, and someone has to step in and get him out of office.

Let’s understand, though, that it’s not just Gonzales that’s a problem.

Throughout the nation, there are a lot of Republicans who stand with a party that’s viewed as pro-gun, but routinely take anti-gun positions. They don’t act like they’re pro-gun at all, and if we expect that from Republican candidates, then we need to step in and do something to hold them accountable.

That means removing them from office.

“You want Democrats to take control?” some will say, because they’ve already said it. Yes, there are people who can’t understand that taking out an anti-gun Republican in a primary doesn’t hand control of that seat to Democrats, especially in that district, which tends to be pretty damn red, all things considered.

So yeah, let’s bounce anti-gun Republicans, making them unemployed, and get down to business. Since it’s typical for the president’s party to lose seats in Congress during midterm elections, we need to beef up the seats that are likely to remain if we want any hope in hell of stopping some of the more egregious things anti-gunners want to happen.

I can’t promise Brandon Herrera won’t somehow morph into a swamp creature once he gets into office. I’ve never personally met the guy. However, I’d take the man who has made his living with guns, who raises money for autism and disaster recovery with his friends, and who takes on a corrupt school system for fun over, well, Tony Gonzales.

I’ll take that any day of the week.

Editor’s Note: The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject its anti-gun agenda.
