Mark Walters From AAR Ranks As a ‘Heavy Hundred’ Radio Host

Liberty-centered and Second Amendment media is important considering the war on anything related to freedom. Friend to Bearing Arms, radio host Mark Walters, was recently named as a “Heavy Hundred.”

TALKERS Magazine is a radio trade publication. The magazine calls itself the “Bible of Talk Radio” and has been around since 1990. The magazine honors talk radio hosts annually through their Heavy Hundred list and Mark Walters from Armed American Radio was recently named as a 2025 honoree.

Walters is no stranger to Bearing Arms and is a frequent guest on Editor-in-chief Cam Edwards’ show, Cam and Co. Edwards and I also have the distinct pleasure of serving on the board of directors of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (unpaid volunteer positions) along with Walters. Walters also recently forged a historic relationship with the National Rifle Association, something to be celebrated considering his criticism of former NRA leadership through the years.

The TALKERS Magazine post noted:

The editors of TALKERS magazine, with input from industry leaders, present the 2025 edition of “The 100 Most Important Radio Talk Show Hosts in America” – a popular feature that has come to be known as “The Heavy Hundred.”

The criteria used to determine the individual broadcasters included in the list are clearly detailed in a disclaimer posted at the beginning of the feature. According to TALKERS VP/executive editor Kevin Casey, “In addition to the standard 11 factors considered – which include [in alphabetical order] courage, effort, impact, longevity, potential, ratings, recognition, revenue, service, talent and uniqueness – the editors strongly considered the quality of entrepreneurship for 2025 which has become increasingly important as the industry hurtles deeper into the digital era and faces emerging challenges which require an expanded set of business skills and layers of emotional fortitude.”

Walters ranked in spot 91, which is a monumental achievement considering he talks about guns, firearms, things that go bang, liberty, and the Second Amendment from the snap of the ball to the blow of the whistle. We’re deeply proud to have Walters as a colleague and friend and celebrate with him this huge honor.

“Honestly, John I’m not even sure what to say,” Walters told Bearing Arms when asked for comment. “Have you seen the names on that list? For those in my profession, the Heavy 100 represents the elite of the industry and there are many many hosts who are not on it that easily could have or should have been.

“I think every host in the country quietly awaits that annual release every year wondering if they’ll ever see their name on it. Knowing this and seeing my name and show included among those who are on it is without a doubt the most humbling and rewarding experience of my career. I don’t even know how to express it.

“Imagine that. A talk radio host with no words!!”

Other notable names that are recognizable that made the 2025 list include: Sean Hannity, Dave Ramsey, Dana Loesch, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Lars Larson, Ben Shapiro, Howard Stern, Charlie Kirk, Bill O’Reilly, Joe Piscopo, and Andy Hooser.

The TALKERS Heavy Hundred has been running for the last 29 years. Originally, they started in 1995 but only honored 25 hosts. In 1996 they expanded the number of hosts to 100 and they  note that their list has since been forged “as an iconic radio industry standard.”

A very hearty congratulations to Mark Walters on this achievement. If you don’t follow Walters, you can check him out over at Armed American Radio. He also is a frequent Monday guest on Cam’s show. Be sure to tune in. You can also head over to X and congratulate Walters yourself.
