If there’s one thing that matters as much, if not more, to me than the right to keep and bear arms, it’s protecting our children from predators. There’s a certain level of evil that lurks in the hearts of some, where they seem to think that the youngest, most vulnerable people are prey rather than treasures that should be shielded from all danger.
Luckily, the right to keep and bear arms means I’ll have the tools I need to protect my children should I have to.
In fact, that’s the horrific position one mother recently found herself in.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed to WXIN that Bruce Pierce, 39, was critically injured in the shooting.
Court documents obtained by WXIN, WTHR and WIBC say that the 12-year-old girl went with a family member to the hotel to find her mom. They found her mother at the hotel with Pierce.
The court documents say the mom temporarily left her daughter alone in the hotel room with Pierce while she carried some items out to her vehicle.
When the mom returned, she allegedly found Pierce on top of her daughter, in the process of taking off her clothes. He is also accused of having a gun in his hand.
The girl’s mother allegedly shouted at Pierce to stop, pulled out her own gun and shot him, court documents say.
Unfortunately, Pierce is still alive. He’s in critical condition, though, so there’s still hope. As he’s a registered sex offender, though, this wasn’t his first rodeo, and he’s probably lucky he wasn’t murdered over the first one. Prison inmates aren’t fond of people like that.
Should he make it, he faces a plethora of charges including attempted rape, attempted child molestation, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and confinement of a victim under 14 years old..
Currently, the mother doesn’t appear to be facing any charges. That should largely hold unless she’s a felon, too, or something like that.
Of course, there are still questions we’ll likely never know the answer to, such as what the mother was doing at a hotel with a registered sex offender and whether she was aware of his history.
Even so, a short trip to take things to the car isn’t the kind of situation where you think much will happen, at least not if you’re unaware of what kind of monster you’ve been hanging out with. Especially if this was more of a motel, where the vehicle trip takes only a couple of minutes at most.
Regardless, nothing justifies this monster allegedly attacking a 12-year-old girl. Nothing at all. Sure, some questions need to be asked if she knew what his history was like, but that doesn’t negate the fact that the monster reportedly acted like a monster once he had an opportunity–one that he had to know wasn’t going to last long.
Being shot is the least horrible thing that could have happened to him. My preferences involve a straight razor and the removal of a certain body part without anesthesia, but that’s just me. I’m kind of a soft touch.
