More Power, Fake Shifts, Improved Range: 2026 Lexus RZ Reveal

The 2026 Lexus RZ is getting more range and more horsepower. A new F Sport model called the RZ 550e leads the way with 402 horsepower and simulated gearshifts. Battery improvements to the lower-output versions of the electric crossover will give them a useful increase in range if you can handle fewer ponies in your stable.

Lexus Performance Badge Comes to RZ

F Sport, the brand’s performance badge, arrives for the first time on this EV as the 2026 Lexus RZ 550e. It has one electric motor in the front and one in the rear, producing a combined maximum of 402 horsepower. The extra oomph means 0-60 drops from 4.9 seconds to 4.1 seconds for the RZ 450e.

The F Sport trim comes with the badge’s signature gloss black trim on the front and rear of the RZ, as well as 20-inch wheels with aero covers. It will also introduce a sort of manual mode called M Mode. This will fake gear shifts, a bit like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N can. Lexus says it will help give the EV “a sportier, more responsive driving feel.”

F Sport Gets Ultrasuede & Animated Shadow Interior

On the inside, the RZ 550e F Sport gets black Ultrasuede trim with blue accents, including contrast stitching.

It will also come with Animated Door Trim Shadow Illumination. That’s a new flickering movement in the perforated door trim that Lexus says “evokes the passage of time.” No, we’re not sure what that means either.

More Range for All 2026 Lexus RZ Grades

For the 2026 Lexus RZ, all models get a new battery electric system that bumps power for the base front-drive RZ 350e from 201 horsepower last year to 221 this year. The RZ 450e doesn’t get more horsepower, at 308, but it does benefit from the added range.

RZ 350e models deliver an estimated 300 miles of range, which is a significant boost from 266 last year. The RZ 450e gets 260 miles, up from 220 last year. The more powerful RZ 550e doesn’t see the same long-range benefits, delivering an estimated 225 miles on a full charge.

Other changes across the board include a North American Charging System port. That’s the plug used by Tesla Supercharger stations, giving the 2026 Lexus RZ access to a much wider charge network. It can also power up more quickly on a Level 2 plug, at up to 11 kW. Models with the panoramic glass roof now have better shading when the electrochromic roof is set to opaque and a clearer view when transparent. Expect the 2026 Lexus RZ at dealers later this year. Pricing and full details will come later as well.
