SUV E-Bike, Foldable Infrared Grill, High-Performance Bucket, and More Emerging Gear

Stylish collaborations and innovative camping solutions dominate the mix this week. For starters, there’s nothing wrong with buying something that brings a bit of color and fandom into your life, and that’s exactly what a couple of cool photography collaborations will do this week. That includes a pair of shades inspired by a National Geographic photographer and sunglass cases featuring the work of photographer Chris Burkard.

But innovation always drives new product releases also, and that’s what you’ll find with the Stovigo, which looks like a stellar option for anyone looking for easy cooking solutions while camping. Whatever tickles your sense of outdoor fun, you’ll find something to satisfy it right here in Emerging Gear.

Stovigo

Imagine a metal briefcase that folds out into a fully functional oven: That’s the idea behind Stovigo, a Kickstarter campaign that launched this week.

The apparent result of 2 years of development, the Stovigo is the brainchild of RevoBBQ (unrelated to the sunglasses brand below). The design team, based in both the U.S. and Taiwan, wanted to create an outdoor oven that didn’t need firewood and was also compact, foldable, and easy to clean.

That resulted in the Stovigo, which currently sells for $300 during early-bird pricing of the Kickstarter campaign.

Revo x Reo Collection

Revo, the California-based sunglasses brand, just dropped a cool collaboration with pro climber and National Geographic photographer Renan Ozturk.

Ozturk has been a “Revo ambassador” for over a decade and now brings his expertise to two limited-edition runs of existing Revo shades. The Revo x Reo Collection includes a pair of limited-edition glacier glasses. They have crystal glass lenses designed to “meet the demands of the most challenging environments,” according to Revo. Moreover, they’ve got Renan’s initials “R.E.O.”

The shades are available in either the Moab or Himalaya styles. Both models cost $330.

Batch Gravel Bike

The bike industry was already having trouble even before the Trump tariff chaos, so we like to keep an eye out for good prices within this turbulent sector of the outdoor economy.

To wit: It’s no small thing that Batch Bikes will sell you its appropriately named Gravel Bike for just $1,100. In a 2019 review, GearJunkie said Batch’s $500 commuter bike proved itself a “sturdy little workhorse.” So there’s a good chance that Batch’s affordably priced gravel will get the job done.

The basic version comes with Microshift components, but for a bit extra, you can get the Gravel Bike Plus ($1,400) and upgrade to SRAM APEX components. Both bikes have a lightweight 6000 series aluminum frame with double-butted tubing and a 10-speed drivetrain. They’re also available in four sizes: 50 cm, 53 cm, 56 cm, and 59 cm.

Huck Performance Bucket

Ah, the 5-gallon bucket. A ubiquitous tool with nearly endless applications for all kinds of outdoor activities. But was the design perfected? Did it need an expensive performance upgrade to offer serious outdoorsman and women the ultimate plastic tub?

According to HUCK, the answer is a definitive yes. With its Performance Bucket, the brand claims to offer the most durable bucket on the market. They won’t degrade when subjected to constant sunlight, and are also BPA-free, to make them safe for storing food.

Finally, they’re made in Maryland, USA. But are they worth $70? We’ll have to put them through the wringer and find out.

Dax Board Co.

We haven’t had the chance to test out the classy-looking SUP boards from Dax Board Co., but they already win plenty of points for sex appeal.

The brand, based in Lake Tahoe, Calif., aims for lightweight, stable boards, offering a range of options from affordable starter boards to adventurous models for overnight camping.

On the low end, you can check out the Dax Air. Priced from $500 to $600, this inflatable board fits into a backpack while retaining enough durability to survive bumps into shoreline hazards. If you’re already a SUP pro, then you may want to look at the Dax Scout. It costs $1,200-1,400 and should keep you safe on overnight adventures, according to Dax.

ROKA x Chris Burkard Lens Cases

If you haven’t heard of Chris Burkard, then first take a moment to check out his website, where you’ll find some of the best outdoor photography around. Or, give a listen to our interview with him on The GearJunkie Podcast!

And if you already know about him, then you might be stoked to see this cool little collaboration he’s putting out with Austin, Texas-based ROKA. The brand has made three cases for protecting your sunglasses, all using gorgeous images from Burkard’s impressive body of work.

The collaboration wasn’t immediately available online Thursday, but ROKA said they should be ready to order soon. Drop your email with them to get notified when they finally drop. Another three styles are set to launch later this year. The bags cost $15 each.

The James Brand Uncharted Collection

With the Uncharted Collection, California’s The James Brand creates a new line “inspired by the lives of world-class surfers, spearfishermen, and explorers like Conner Coffin and Justin Lee.”

Core offerings from the collection include The Humboldt ($180), which is also The James Brand’s first fillet knife. Designed in collaboration with Conner Coffin and built for those who live on the water, it has a corrosion-resistant Böhler N690 stainless steel blade, a secure G10 handle, and a full-length Kydex sheath.

There’s also The Folsom Pro ($280), an ambidextrous liner lock with a larger, ultra-durable LC200N stainless steel blade. It’s also got sealed ceramic ball bearings, a deep-carry titanium clip, and G10 scales for grip.

Luno AIR Pro Vehicle Mattress

Luno makes a “sleep system like no other,” GJ Editor Seiji Ishii wrote of the brand in 2020, and it’s kept making more car camping solutions ever since.

With the new AIR Pro Vehicle Mattress ($380), the brand claims to have upgraded its sleep system yet again. The latest version inflates in 2 minutes, transforming a vehicle into a cozy sleeping space for two campers.

Other upgrades include a zipper that adapts the mattress for solo adventurers, attachments for additional head support, and a coated bottom fabric for improved durability. It’s also got a smaller, more powerful pump and a reduced pack size.

Ride1Up Vorsa E-Bike

Another entry in the affordable bikes category, San Diego-based Ride1Up is offering what it calls the “SUV of e-bikes.” The Vorsa has a powerful 750W motor, dual-sensor system (torque + cadence), name-brand components (including Samsung UL 2271-certified battery), smart color display, 100mm front shock, integrated lighting system, and Apple AirTag integration.

Additionally, the Vorsa has an intriguing new modular cargo approach (rear rack included), so riders can set it up for any need, from an optional add-on front rack for groceries and bags, a passenger kit, pannier bags, and rear rack extension.

With a 28mph top pedal-assist speed, 30-60 miles of range, and an integrated lighting system, the Vorsa has an impressive price tag of about $1,600.

G-SHOCK x Casio 50th-Anniversary Watch

We’ve got another beautiful, limited-edition entry in G-SHOCK’s Full Metal series of watches. Casio, which first created the G-SHOCK line in 1983, is celebrating 50 years of watchmaking. To mark the milestone, G-SHOCK has released a commemorative timepiece that honors the brand’s legacy.

To be honest, it could have a better model name, as GMC-B2100ZE doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. But it’s another gorgeous, durable watch that’s perfect for outdoor fun. At $930, it could make for a great gift.
