Gun Rights Policy Conference Shaping Up to Be Key 2A Event of the Year

Gun owners and Second Amendment advocates are blessed to have a lot of great events across the country focusing on our right to keep and bear arms. There’s the NRA Annual Meeting, of course, which is the grandaddy of them all, but we also have Gun Owners of America’s GOALS, GunCon, the Great American Outdoor Show, and the Gun Rights Policy Conference.

Work and family obligations kept me away from the NRA’s meeting, GOA’s event, and GunCon this year, but I am really looking forward to being in Fort Worth, Texas in late September for GRPC and the affiliated Alternative Mass Media Conference, also known as AMM-Con. Gun Rights Policy Conference is a three day event that runs Sept. 25—27, and AMM-Con will be the primary focus on Friday, Sept. 25.

The Second Amendment Foundation released a list of speakers for AMM-Con today, and I can already tell there’s going to be some great content.

AMM-Con is a gathering of some of the top Second Amendment media members and influencers who provide educational presentations about all things related to our right to keep and bear arms. For those who are established or aspiring journalists, bloggers, video media personalities, podcasters, or have a general interest in new media, AMM-Con is a must-attend event. Previously, the event was exclusive to media members only, but the committee recognizes that each of us – through friends, family and social media – can help spread the message.

The National Rifle Association’s Mark Keefe will give the keynote address during the event and discuss melding publications and media to streamline operations. Additional speakers include Cam Edwards, Mark Smith, William Kirk, Robyn Sandoval, Rich Yumul, Chris Swainhart, Stephen Gutowski, Jason Oliver and Jake Wiskerchen.

Featured educational topics:

  • The ethical use of AI and AI tools
  • Rebranding and driving business via your blog
  • Effective use of video, video equipment and podcast growth
  • Reporting from the heart and navigating YouTube
  • Panel discussion featuring Second Amendment advocates/activists on how to utilize media to deliver a positive message

I’m humbled and honored to be speaking at both AMM-Con and GRPC, alongside folks like retired U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, ATF Director Robert Cekada, ATF Counsel Robert Leider, TX-23 congressional candidate Brandon “The AK Guy” Herrera, Guns and Gadget’s Jared Yanis, and many others.

While GRPC is aimed at those Second Amendment advocates who care deeply about the legislative and legal battles taking place around our right to keep and bear arms, AMM-Con is geared more towards those who want to have an influence in those fights. You don’t have to have your own radio show, website, or podcast to make a difference. There are plenty of folks whose primary outlet is a social media platform like Instagram or X who are having an impact on others, and AMM-Con is a fantastic way to hear and learn directly from some of the most experienced voices in the 2A community.

When I first started hosting Cam & Company on NRA News back in 2004, there really was no 2A media ecosystem online. There were a few Second Amendment-focused blogs and message boards, but nothing that resembled the large number of GunTubers and social media influences that exist today.

I’m really looking forward to soaking up the knowledge and first-hand experience that will be on display at AMM-Con this year. In some sense I suppose that we’re competitors since we’re all trying to get as many viewers and listeners as possible, but we’re also collaborators in the cause of protecting and restoring our Second Amendment rights. The community of 2A content creators has had its share of drama, and even conflict at times, but at its best, it’s an open and inviting big tent, and that will definitely be on display in Fort Worth.

I honestly can’t remember a lineup of Second Amendment speakers that’s as strong as what you’ll find at AMM-Con and Gun Rights Policy Conference this year. You can register for GRPC here and AMM-Con here, and I hope to see you at the Westin Dallas-Fort Worth Airport hotel the last weekend in September.

Editor’s Note: President Trump and Republicans across the country are doing everything they can to protect our Second Amendment rights and right to self-defense.
