Shannon Watts Throws Shade at David Hogg Over MTG Comment

Gun control activist and failed pillow-maker David Hogg is in damage control mode after telling a CNN panel this week that he’s willing to give former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene “a chance” now that she’s broken with President Donald Trump.

“We can speculate all we want on her intentions and why she’s doing this, ultimately, but from my perspective I’m willing to take that first step and have that conversation with her,” Hogg told CNN’s Abby Phillips before “challenging” Greene to appear on the show alongside Hogg so the two of them could have a discussion.

Hogg was hardly declaring MTG his BFF, but that hasn’t stopped many progressives, including Watts, from accusing Hogg of ideological apostasy.

In case you don’t commit every social media post by Hogg to memory (and if you do, I suggest you seek help immediately), this is what Hogg had to say about former Democrat representative Mary Peltola’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

From an anti-gun activist’s perspective, Hogg’s happiness about Peltola’s defeat to a pro-2A Republican kinda makes sense. Peltola had a solid record in support of the Second Amendment, and was the only Democrat endorsed by the NRA in the 2024 campaign cycle. Pro-gun Democrats are kryptonite to the gun control movement, so I can understand Hogg’s reaction at the time.

Both Watts and Hogg, however, are trying to move past being single-issue activists. Hogg was elected DNC vice-chair last year, but resigned his seat after refusing to commit to endorsing incumbents over younger challengers, including those backed by his political action committee.

Watts, meanwhile, now bills herself as the “summoner of women’s audacity” who “organizes and mobilizes women to create political, electoral and cultural change” (while offering lifecoaching sessions as well for anyone with more cash than common sense). Given her new focus on electing Democratic women to office, she was willing to overlook Peltola’s pro-2A stances because of the congresswoman’s gender (and party ID), unlike Hogg.

Or at least unlike the David Hogg of 2024. Hogg proclaimed himself a changed man as he tried to worm his way back into Watts’ good graces.

Hogg’s mea culpa was about as successful as his venture into pillow-making. Watts replied:

Opposing someone who is behaving immorally isn’t about what she did to you personally — it’s about what she’s done to others. And that includes racism and bigotry, which she admits she hasn’t changed her views on. There is no reason to elevate with someone like her and doing so only gives her power she wouldn’t have otherwise. As the mom of a trans kid, I’ll be damned if I will be silent while fellow Dems give her more of the attention she craves. That’s great re your apology to Peltola, but there is a patten there…

I’m honestly surprised (and somewhat disappointed) that Watts didn’t accuse him of mansplaining to her.

Oddly, I can’t find where Watts has similarly criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar for praising MTG (and Alex Jones). I can only assume that Watts is giving her a pass because to do otherwise would not show solidarity with Democrats of the female persuasion. Being a manboy, though, Hogg is apparently fair game for the Moms Demand Action founder, despite their shared love of stripping Americans of their fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

Editor’s Note: The anti-gun left can provide us with comic relief at times, but they’ll stop at nothing to enact their radical gun control agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights.
